Carlos Bielsa is Managing Partner and Chief AI Officer at BIT Capital. Joining the firm in its early stages, he has been a driving force behind its rapid growth and technological evolution — building the AI and quantitative systems that power the firm's investment process, from proprietary signal generation and alternative data to AI-driven research automation.
He co-manages BIT Capital's flagship technology equity strategies, including the BIT Global Technology Leaders fund, which holds over €1 billion in assets under management. The strategies he co-manages have consistently ranked among Europe's best-performing, delivering annualized returns exceeding 30% since inception seven years ago.
Before finance, he spent nearly a decade at the European Space Agency as a Flight Dynamics Engineer. As part of the Rosetta operations team, he played a key role in the first, and only, successful comet landing in history — including the implementation and online training of the cometary atmospheric model used in flight operations. He also developed critical ground software infrastructure used to command major ESA missions including Rosetta, Mars Express, and Solar Orbiter.
He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (with distinction) and an MSc in Finance from the University of London (SOAS).
